Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Chron 1

1 CHRON 1: Let‘s seek the Lord as we read this chapter and share what he reveals to us.

SUN, 7/2, My Devotions:
1 CHRON 1 sharing:
Nimrod appears in v.10 as the great-grandson of Noah and is described as “the first on earth to be a mighty man.” Gen 10:8-11 further says about Nimrod that he was a mighty hunter before the Lord and he built and ruled over cities such as Babel and Nineveh. According to some Jewish traditions, he led the building of the Tower of Babel to take vengeance against God for the flood that destroyed his ancestors. So he tried to make it higher than any future flood God might send! But God confused the people’s languages so they couldn’t complete building the tower. This shows us that when we act in anger against God, our works come to naught.

Devotion 2 of 2: Gal 1

Paul scolded the Galatians for leaving the grace of Christ for a different gospel (v.6), one linked closer to Judaism and the law. This was a huge problem in the early church, and God used Paul to sever Christianity from the law. How did Paul receive this understanding of the gospel of grace? He says in v.12 that it was through a revelation of Jesus Christ. When did he receive this revelation? Some scholars believe it was when he went to Arabia (v.17) and communed with God in the desert. That’s also possible, but I believe Paul received most of his revelations when he went to heaven and encountered Jesus and the Father through his NDE and heard amazing things (2 Cor 12:2-4)! So let’s thank God for giving Paul so many amazing revelations that became the foundation of New Testament Christianity!
