Devotion 1 of 2: Acts 23
1) Paul saw that the hearing had Sadducees and Pharisees present so he told them he was being judged concerning the resurrection of the dead (v.6), knowing it would divide them because Pharisees believed in resurrection and Sadducees didn’t. An argument arose and the hearing couldn’t be continued (v.7-10).
2) 40 men vowed to eat nothing until they killed Paul (v.12-13).
3) Paul’s sister’s son found out about the plot, told the commander in charge of keeping Paul about it, and the commander moved Paul to Caesarea with an escort of 470 soldiers to protect him (v.23-24)

Devotion 2 of 2: Jer 23
This prophecy of Jeremiah mainly deals with Israel, her captivity to Babylon and the false prophets who led them astray. God condemned those prophets for saying to the people, “You shall have peace. No evil shall come upon you,” when, in actuality, Babylon would attack Judah and kill or take them captive! This seems to be what many Bible teachers are saying today, “We won’t enter the tribulation. We won’t face antichrist’s persecutions.” I believe that is not what God says in the Bible, so I feel I should speak out against that teaching.
