Devotion 1 of 2: Acts 9
1) People of the Way (v.1) because Jesus taught he was the Way and his believers followed him.
2) Goads are used by farmers to prick their cattle if they move in the wrong direction. So the Holy Spirit was pricking Saul, showing him his direction was wrong and trying to steer him in the right direction. Perhaps it was through pricking Saul’s conscience, as he separated families and sent men and women, old and young, to prison and death for believing in Jesus, and this may have bothered him.
3) Yes, I believe he spoke in tongues because he says he spoke more in tongues than anyone else in 1 Cor 14:18, so I believe he started to speak in tongues when he was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Devotion 2 of 2: Jer 9
Once more, deception and lies appear often in Jeremiah’s rebuke of Judah. He says: Everyone will deceive his neighbor, not speak the truth, speak lies (v.5), the Jews’ dwelling place is in the midst of deceit and through deceit they refuse to know God (v.6), and their tongue is an arrow shot out and speaks deceit (v.8)! Because the last days will see much deceit, we should learn about the evils of deceit through this book!
