Devotion 1 of 2: 3 John 1
There are many descriptions of bad people in the church, like: false prophets, wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matt 7:15), false apostles, deceitful workers (2 Cor 11:13), false teachers (2 Pet 2:1), tares or weeds (Matt 13:25), hypocrites (Matt 7:5), workers of lawlessness (Matt 7:23), etc.
In this chapter, Diotrephes is an example of such a person. His bad activities are listed in v.9-10. I think that was enough reason to put him out of the church! One criteria I use for asking people to leave the church is if they harm other people and stop them from coming to church.
For Sat, 12/10's devotions, let's have free sharing for 3 John 1 and either free sharing or answering this question for Rev 1. Rev 1 question: In v.7, what do you think the expression, “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him” means, and when, and in what circumstances do you think this prophecy will be fulfilled?
Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 102
This is a wonderful psalm that can be applied to the LDC! V.1-11 talk of being taunted by enemies and calling to God for help, which can be applied to the persecution the LDC will face from antichrist. V.13 speaks of “the appointed time.” This can be applied to the time God has ordained to move the church into the Day of Atonement, the 3rd and final major step of restoration!
