I believe the basic, true gospel that Paul was talking about is that God sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross to pay the penalty for mankind’s sins, so that anyone who believes in him can receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life, which isn’t dependent on our works but on God’s grace.
