Devotion 1 of 2: Josh 19
Simeon’s land was within Judah’s territory (v.1). He was allotted that land because he received a curse of not getting his own land when he and Levi deceived and killed Shechem’s tribe for violating their sister, Dinah (Gen 34). So he was given a part of Judah’s land.

Devotion 2 of 2: Josh 20
The cities of refuge were for the protection of people who accidentally killed someone. The avenger of blood would hunt them down and kill them otherwise (v.3). This speaks spiritually of the salvation and protection from Satan that Jesus provided to us through the cross.
