Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 7

The purpose of God choosing Israel and delivering them out of Egypt was to make them his people and his treasured possession (v.6). In the same way, he wants the church to be his chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and his special possession to declare his praises to the nations (1 Pet 2:9).

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 7

Although Jesus called Gentiles “dogs”, I don’t believe Jesus had racial prejudice because he healed the Gentile woman’s daughter! We need to understand that calling Gentiles “dogs”, was part of the Jewish culture of that day. So in Jesus, we see 2 pictures: Jesus behaving according to the Jewish culture of his day and Jesus going beyond that culture to show love!
