Devotion 1 of 2: Num 15

Jesus didn’t break the Sabbath commandment. The lame man wasn’t doing a job for money. Rather, he was doing an act that testified his healing, so it was actually like an act of worship and thanksgiving to God! The man who was gathering wood was doing work for heating or cooking.

Devotion 2 of 2: Num 16

These 3 men’s words sounded very humble and true and made Moses seem proud and wrong. “The whole community is holy, and the Lord is with them (v.3),” and “Why do you set yourself above the Lord’s assembly?” (v.3). But the Bible says they became insolent (v.1). So our words may seem pure and humble, but we must be able to discern the heart to make the right judgment.
