Devotion 1 of 2: Ex 31
I think it’s possible for the Pharisees to be right in accusing Jesus of breaking the Sabbath if you judge by the letter of the law! Because, legalistically speaking, you can say the disciples were “working” when they picked grain to eat and the healed man was “working” when he picked up his bed and walked! But 2 Cor 3:6 says the letter of the law kills and doesn’t give life! So it’s wrong to judge by the letter of the law! Rather, we want to judge by the Spirit! Judging by the Spirit would lead us to interpret “work” as “work on a job.” Therefore, the Pharisees were wrong! The disciples were not working on a job, they were merely finding food because they were hungry and the healed man was not working on a job, but simply showing he had been healed and was rejoicing over it!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ex 32
Israel failed at Mt. Sinai by worshiping a golden calf and saying this was the god that brought them out of Egypt (v.4). We can link Mt. Sinai to the Feast of Pentecost because at Pentecost under the Covenant of Grace, 3000 souls got saved (Acts 2:41) but at Mt. Sinai, under the covenant of the Law, 3000 souls died (v.28)!
