Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 82

This psalm is important because it’s quoted by Jesus in John 10:34. The Jews wanted to stone Jesus, accusing Him of blasphemy because He claimed to be God. But Jesus answered, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’?” (Ps 82:6) Jesus further explains in John: If God called the OT Jews “gods,” why do you say I am blaspheming because I said that I’m the Son of God? After all, Father God sanctified Me and sent Me to this world.
The word “gods” is used twice and refers to humans in this psalm (v.1, 6). In v.1, it means “judges.” God called judges gods because God is the Great Judge, and when we act as a judge, we are doing something that God does. So that’s why, in v.2, God asks the gods, or judges, “How long will you judge unjustly?”
And in v.6, “gods” means “humans,” because humans are made, or birthed, by God. That’s why v.6b says, “And all of you are children of the Most High.”
Going back to John 10:31-39, Muslim scholars claim this episode shows Jesus denied He is God or the Son of God because they believe Jesus is only a man, not God. But their interpretation is wrong.
What Jesus is really saying is that if God called ordinary humans “gods” to honor them as His creation, how much more God would honor Jesus as God and the Son of God because He sent Jesus from heaven to save this world and because Jesus was doing many miraculous works that humans could not do.
Let’s seek God to reveal Scripture to us so we can share the correct meaning to those who are searching for truth.

1 JN 2: Free sharing!
In v.18-19, we read about AC: “Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.”
I believe we can learn several important things about AC from this Scripture. One thing is that there will be many antichrists who will appear in the endtime. This will be a sign we are in the LD. Another thing to learn is that there will be one genuine AC, “the real McCoy,” or the real one. We can call him “The Antichrist.”
A third important thing to know is that the antichrists went out from the believers or from the church. I believe this is a revelation from God that the AC will go out from the church in the LD, too! He may be someone acting like a Christian, but he’s not genuine, and he’ll leave the church. And the last thing to learn is that this is how AC will be made manifest—by his leaving the church!
Let’s study what the Bible teaches us about AC and the endtime so we will be prepared to face and overcome him and fulfill God’s mission for us to bring revival to Japan!
