Devotion 1 of 1: Joel 1
Joel talks about an invasion of locusts in this chapter (v.4). This is a picture of a strong nation that will invade Judah (v.6). This was fulfilled through Babylon, which attacked Judah in 587BC, destroying the temple, cutting off its offerings and causing the priests to mourn (v.9).
But this prophecy has a 2nd fulfillment in the endtime. AC will gather an army of many nations and invade Israel in order to destroy her! So what the prophet commanded the Jews to do in this book also applies to modern Israel. The prophet ordered the priests to lament and wail (v.13), fast, gather the people and cry out to the Lord (v.14)!
Let’s heed this call to repent! Let's pray, not only for Israel, but also for the church, to be able to overcome AC’s persecution and stand strong for the Lord. Let’s learn more about the endtime from this great book.
