Devotion 1 of 2: Acts 16
Paul went to Philippi of Macedonia because he saw a vision of a man of Macedonia begging him to come and help him (v.9). But when he went, he and Silas were whipped and thrown into prison for casting out an evil spirit from a girl who predicted the future (v.16-24)! But when the two prayed and sang at midnight, an earthquake hit, the prison doors opened and their chains fell off (v.25-26). Paul then led the jailor to salvation and baptized he and his household (v.31-34)!

Devotion 2 of 2: Lev 16
The 2 goats represent the roles that Jesus’ BODY and SOUL played in our atonement. Jesus fulfilled the role of the goat that was killed by His BODY dying on the cross and shedding His blood for us (v.15). He also fulfilled the role of the scapegoat that bore the sins of Israel to a remote place in the wilderness (v.21-22), where it died a lonely, slow, tortuous death, by His SOUL bearing our sins to Hades (Acts 2:27, 31—David’s prophecy about Christ’s soul going to Hades), where He received the punishment we should have received in order to release us from the punishment of sin.
