Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 24
V.12-13 say, “And if the man is poor, you shall not keep his pledge overnight. You shall in any case return the pledge to him again when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his own garment and bless you; and it shall be righteousness to you before the Lord your God.”
I believe this verse shows the mercifulness and kindness of God toward the poor and weak. When we have pride, we look down on those unfortunate people. But that is a dangerous attitude to have. Prov 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.” This warns that if we have pride, we will fall and be destroyed!
So let’s have God’s attitude toward the poor and weak. Let’s treat them with respect and, if we can, let’s do something to help them get back on their feet!

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 8
Rom 8 is an amazing chapter that shows the ultimate goal of the Christian life. It is living in the spirit and not in the flesh (v.5) so that we are conformed to the image of Christ (v.29) until nothing can separate us from the love of God (v.39)!
The best way to live in the spirit is to always fellowship with God through prayer and the Word and to always thank Jesus for providing victory over sin to us by dying on the cross for us! Thank you, Jesus!
