Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 3

This was a psalm that David wrote after escaping from his son Absalom, who was trying to kill him to take his throne (2 Sam 15). The situation looked hopeless (v.2), yet David confessed that the Lord was his shield of protection (v.3). He also remembered that God had struck all his enemies and broke their teeth (v.7), and so he declared salvation belongs to the Lord and God’s blessing is upon his people (v.8).
When things look dark, let’s confess the victories God gave us in the past and declare his deliverance for the present problem!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 4

In this psalm, David got angry without sinning (v.4)! Why was he angry? Because men were falsely denying his glory and shaming him instead (v.2)!
What did he do to not sin? 1st, he had confidence in his godliness so he knew the Lord would hear his prayers (v.3). Also, he didn’t act hastily to seek revenge, but meditated, was still and put his trust in the Lord (v.4-5). So instead of sinning in anger, he had gladness, peace and rest in his heart (v.7-8). What a model for us to follow when we get angry against evil done against us!
