1) The priest made the woman drink some bitter water (v.19-28). If she was unfaithful, she would be cursed, but if she was faithful, no curse would happen.
2) I think this was unfair to test only the wives and not the husbands. But this was because men ruled society and made rules that favored men. This was part of the curse upon women after the Fall, when God said to Eve, “…he (your husband) shall rule over you.” Thank God, Christ delivered us from the curse (Gal 3:13-14) and wants couples to live now respecting and honoring each other!

One goal of the LDC is to be a church of love. For that purpose v.11, “Do not speak evil of one another, brethren,” is very important. It’s so easy to criticize because we all have different opinions. But let's realize that everyone is trying their best to live a good life, and we all think differently because God made us that way! So it’s okay to be different! Love overcomes differences!
