This chapter describes commandments that teach the sanctity of blood. Billy Graham, the famous evangelist, once said v.11 was the most important verse in the OT: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” This verse points to the reason for Christ coming to earth—to provide atonement for mankind’s sins by shedding his blood for us on the cross.

1) It was a hill just northwest of the Acropolis in Athens. Before 500BC, the Athenian judicial council tried cases there, so the name “Areopagus” came to be applied to the judicial council, too.
2) Paul took something the Greeks knew in their culture, the altar with the inscription: To The Unknown God, and shared in a powerful way who that God was.
