Devotion 1 of 1: Acts 5
One episode in this chapter was about Ananias and Sapphira (v.1-11). They did a good thing by selling their land and giving an offering! But they sinned by lying that they gave everything when it was only a part! So Peter declared words of judgment to them, and 1st Ananias died (v.5), then later his wife, Sapphira (v.10)!
I believe this is an example of spiritual authority to judge that God gave to the early church. It was lost and replaced by man-made authority to control through organizational structure during the Middle Ages. But in the LD, God will restore this authority to judge our enemies, as seen in Rev 11:5. Let’s seek God to become fully mature so that we can be entrusted with this kind of spiritual authority!
