Devotion 1 of 2: Job 7

Job was so frustrated because he didn’t understand what was happening to him and why he was going through so much suffering. He asked God what sin had he committed that made him a target of punishment in v.20. Then he asked why God wouldn’t forgive his sin in v.21. We sometimes go through similar frustrations when things don’t go right in our life and we don’t understand why. So I want to study the book of Job to help me overcome those frustrations, unbelief and doubts!

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 7

(2/2)
1) I believe the holy things and pearls are God’s blessings, like the gospel, forgiveness, encouragement, support, help, etc. And the dogs and swine refer to people who reject God’s blessings (trample under their feet) and do much damage to others (tear you in pieces), like the Pharisees and priests in Jesus’ day. Jesus showed us how to deal with that kind of people by treating them very harshly. I want to have spiritual discernment to see whom I should forgive and love and whom I should deal with as Pharisees.

2) There are cults that use Jesus’ name in healing, etc., but don’t really understand salvation through Jesus, and don’t do the Father’s will, which is to love God and to love their neighbor. They think they are special in God’s eyes, and they criticize and reject everyone else. Two examples are the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), a Christian cult which believes in white supremacy and suppresses and even kills Jews, Blacks and people of other races; and the People’s Temple, founded by Jim Jones, who used faith healing to gather people but led 918 of them to mass murder and suicide in Guyana, South America, in 1978.
