Devotion 1 of 2: Hos 8
Repeatedly God rebukes Israel for their idolatry. V.4 says, “From their silver and gold they made idols for themselves—that they might be cut off.” When we make idols that are not the real God, we are cutting ourselves off from relationship with God. We can easily make idols of things we think are valuable in life, like job, success, wealth, fame, etc. But these will cut us off from God! Let’s worship Jesus only!

Devotion 2 of 2: John 8
1) Although they caught the woman in the act of adultery, they didn’t bring the man but let him escape, showing their willingness to persecute females but excuse males (v.4)! This shows their willingness to excuse themselves, too, if no one knew!
2) I think Jesus wrote the dates, places and women with whom the accusers had committed fornication in the order of their age. That’s why the men were convicted by their conscience and left, from the oldest to the youngest (v.9).
Let’s ask God to take out prejudice and favoritism from our hearts toward other countries, races, the opposite sex, and all other people and help us to be honest, transparent and sincere to all we meet!
