1) Because God wanted Hosea to be an example of God’s love for Israel.
2) Lo-Ammi, which means, “Not mine.” That name showed that the 3rd child was not Hosea’s.

Devotion 2 of 2: John 1
Liberal theologians and Muslim scholars don’t accept the book of John because he writes amazing things about Jesus being God as well as the Son of God, the Word, the creator of all things and the light of men (v.1-5)! They say John wrote those things to make people believe Jesus was God so they would join Christianity! They say similar things about Paul because Paul, too, wrote astounding things about Jesus and how he was the reason the whole universe exists (Col 1:15-17)! No one else wrote such awesome things! But I believe those scholars are wrong and don’t understand the Scriptures because they don’t have the Spirit of God to guide them. I believe both John and Paul got their understanding from NDEs (in Paul’s case) and visions. We know John had many amazing visions about the endtime, and that’s how he could write the book of Revelation. So let’s thank God for the Word of God, which the human intellect cannot understand but which is revealed to those who humble themselves and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit!
