Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Cor 7

1) It is genuine repentance that leads to forgiveness, salvation and change (v.10)!
Example: Peter denied Jesus 3 times but repented with tears (Matt 26:75). Jesus forgave him, and he was changed into a dynamic revivalist who, at the end of his life, died as a martyr for Christ!
2) It is feeling sorry for being caught in sin but not necessarily sorry for sinning!
Example: Judas Iscariot felt sorry for betraying Jesus and said, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood” (Matt 27:4). But he never was forgiven or changed and ended up in despair and committed suicide (Matt 27:5).

Devotion 2 of 2: Eccl 7

I think Solomon had a light case of depression because of the emptiness and frustrations he felt. That’s why he said things like: the day of death is better than the day of one’s birth (v.1), and better to go to the house of mourning that the house of feasting (v.2). So although Solomon had riches, status and fame, his life was empty and dark because he didn’t obey God. I want to live a life of walking with God !
