Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Chron 6

Levi and Simeon were cursed because, when their sister Dinah was violated by Shechem, as an act of revenge, they deceived Shechem’s people, killed all the men and plundered their wealth (Gen 34:25-29). Before dying, their father Jacob prophesied a curse over them that they wouldn’t receive their own land but would be divided and scattered among the tribes in the Promised Land (Gen 49:7). Over 400 years later, Levi turned the curse into a blessing by siding with Moses and killing the Jews who had worshiped the golden calf at Mt. Sinai (Ex 32:25-29). As a result, they were chosen to become the priestly tribe of Israel, and instead of their own land in Canaan, they were given 48 cities scattered among the tribes (Josh 21:41). This chapter records Levi receiving their cities among various tribes (v.54-55, 60-66, 70-80).

Devotion 2 of 2: Gal 6

1) Gal 6:1 says we should restore in a spirit of gentleness.
2) Once I told a sister she was too light in her attitude and words. She stumbled and stopped coming to church. I should have been gentle and should have showed her lots of love before trying to correct her! I made a big mistake.
