Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Chron 4

In v.21, it says Judah’s son, Shelah named his firstborn son Er. I believe he did this to honor his oldest brother, Er, who had died. This shows Judah’s family had changed from a family who didn’t care for one another to a family of love. The church is our spiritual family. Let’s seek God to make us a genuine family of love, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gal 4

1) Hagar: was a servant, was owned by someone, had to do what she was told (v.22), he son’s birth was ordinary (v.23), symbolizes people under the Law (v.24), known as Mt. Sinai in Arabia (v.25), will be put out of the home, her son will not get any of the family riches (v.30)
Sarah: was free, she could live as she desired (v.22), her son’s birth had been promised by God (v.23), symbolizes a free woman, known as Jerusalem of heaven (v.26), will have many children, more than the woman who has a husband (v.27), son will be given the family riches (v.30).
2) My Hagar behavior: Getting upset when things don’t go as I want. My Sarah behavior: Not getting disturbed but praising God even when things don’t work out.
