Devotion 1 of 1: 1 Chron 2

V.3 says that Judah’s firstborn, Er, was evil so God put him to death! Actually, the 2nd son, Onan, was also evil, so God put him to death, too (Gen 38:8-10)! The evil of these 2 boys came from their father, Judah! He didn’t love his family! He told his brothers to sell their youngest brother, Joseph, into slavery (Gen 37:26-28). Then, likely because he didn’t like his family, he left them, married a Canaanite woman and started his own family. But his lack of love was reproduced in his sons, and that resulted in their evil behavior and judgment from God! But Judah finally realized his lack of family love destroyed his own family, so he repented, changed his ways and returned home! In the end, he was so transformed that he offered to lay down his life to save his brother, Benjamin! This was the reason his tribe was chosen to bring forth the Messiah to mankind! Let us also make achieving agape love the goal of our lives!
