Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Cor 9
One problem we all face in life is criticism. The criticism may be justified, because we all have faults, or it may be unjustified, based on wrong thinking. One thing Paul was criticized for was not having a regular job and living off the gospel instead (v.6-14)! First Paul defended his right to do that. Then he said an amazing thing! He did not use this right so that it would not be an obstacle to people (v.12b)! Although he was free (he didn’t have to do it), he made himself a servant of others so that he could win them (v.19)! Let’s try to remember Paul’s attitude the next time we receive criticism!
