Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 113
I like v.9 very much! It fits in perfectly with the study of the barren women in the Bible! It’s God’s promise of giving the childless woman her own children! And let’s remember God promised that the barren woman’s children would be more than the married woman’s in Isaiah 54:1! “Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord. Yes, Lord, bring it to pass!
Devotion 2 of 2: Rev 11
1) I believe the 2 witnesses are the LDC as symbolized by Elijah and Moses because their miracle works in v.6 are the same as Elijah and Moses’.
2) I think they will preach the gospel to all the world to fulfill Matt 24:14 and bring forth the greatest revival in world history as prophesied in Rev 7:9-14.
3) I think they will be killed all over the world, and not only Jerusalem (J), because their dead bodies will lie in the great city figuratively called Sodom and Egypt (v.8), which are symbols of the world. J was not a symbol of the world, but of God’s people. Also, it’s true that Jesus was crucified at J (v.8), but we can also say that from heaven’s viewpoint, he was crucified in the world! And v.9 says that people all over the world will gaze on their dead bodies. Many interpret this to mean the world will watch their bodies through TV, but it also says, “…some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial!” So the people gazing on the bodies will also stop them from being buried, so this can’t mean watching on TV, but actually watching on site!
4) I think the event that connects to their resurrection and ascension is the Rapture of the church at Jesus’ coming in the air for his bride! So I believe those who are walking in light will know when Jesus will return for his bride, but the rest of the world, including Christians in the dark, will not know, and it will be sudden, without warning, like a thief in the night, to them!
