Devotion 1 of 2: John 18
In v.10, we see Peter, although outnumbered by many Roman soldiers, defend Jesus by cutting off the high priest’s servant’s ear! So Peter was brave and faithful to the Lord! But Jesus told him to put away his sword! No doubt, Peter was confused as were the other disciples! Everything that was happening was opposite to what they had thought would happen! They thought Jesus would deliver Judea from the Romans, like the judges did for Israel in the past! But Jesus was being arrested, and despite Peter trying to defend him, Jesus told him to stop! The disciples were bewildered and fearful that their thinking was wrong and their Messianic dream was crumbling!
So their forsaking Jesus is very understandable under those circumstances! They didn’t know what was going on! So that’s why Jesus later forgave them and explained more to them about the kingdom (Acts 1:3. Although they still didn’t quite understand as seen in their question in Acts 1:6!). So Jesus didn’t reject them, but helped them to understand more and then used them as he had planned to build his church!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 96
Here are the devotional options for Sat, 12/3. For Ps 96, you may do free sharing or answer this question. Ps 96 question: Verses 11-13 say the heavens, earth, sea, fields, trees and all creation will rejoice at Jesus’ 2nd coming! Can you give one reason why they would rejoice when Christ returns and link the answer to the present problems of global warming and environmental pollution?
This is my Sat, 12/3 devotions. Ps 96 sharing: The earth and the heavens (sky) will rejoice at Jesus’ 2nd coming because when he returns, he will set up the Millennium Kingdom on earth for 1,000 years and cleanse the earth of the poisonous pollutions created by man! During that time, Jesus and his followers will turn the globe into a beautiful Garden of Eden to fulfill the original calling given to Adam and Eve!
