Devotion 1 of 2: John 5

After healing the lame man at the Pool of Bethesda, Jesus told him to stop sinning or something worse may happen to him (v.14). So we can conclude that sin was the cause of his lame condition. We can also say this about the paralyzed man in Matt 9:2-8 whom Jesus healed after telling him his sins were forgiven. When we pray for healing for ourselves or for others, if the Spirit leads us, it would be good to pray for repentance of sin, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Judg 19

A Levite got a concubine from Bethlehem, but she left him and returned home. He went to fetch her, and on the return, he stopped at a house in Gibeah. But some wicked men of Benjamin from that town demanded to have relations with him, similar to Sodom in Gen 19! The concubine was given instead, and they abused and killed her! The Levite took her body home, cut it into 12 parts and sent the parts throughout Israel, causing a huge controversy! This was one of the lowest points in Israel’s history! One takeaway from this story is that, unlike Sodom, God did not destroy Gibeah or Benjamin, although he did punish them (Judg 20)! From this, I believe that in the last days, when homosexuality is on the rise again, many will repent and be saved and not be destroyed in judgment!
