Devotion 1 of 2: Judg 5

I think we can see Jael (v.24-27) using a peg to crush the head of Sisera, Israel’s enemy, the Canaanites, who cruelly oppressed Israel for 20 years (v.2-3), as a fulfillment of God’s prophecy to Satan in Gen 3:15: “...he (the offspring of the woman) will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Devotion 2 of 2: Judg 6

In v.12, God calls Gideon a mighty warrior! Then in v.14, he commissions Gideon to save Israel from Midian. But Gideon replies in v.15 that his tribe is Manasseh, the smallest tribe, and his clan is the weakest, and he is the least in his family! So Gideon is the least likely to defeat Midian in all Israel, yet God chooses him! And he succeeds and brings deliverance to Israel in chapter 7! Gideon is a beautiful picture of the LDC, especially in Japan, who will be transformed by the Spirit to defeat antichrist!
