Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 82
At 1st, I did not understand who v.2 was talking about: “How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?” After some analysis, I feel that God is speaking v.2 to the people in v.1 with authority to judge, that He calls: “the congregation of the mighty” and “the gods.” God confirms in v.6 that “gods” are people.
So, God is saying, as “gods,” we humans have the authority to judge others, but doing it unjustly is wrong, and rather, we should do v.3-4, “defend the poor and fatherless, the afflicted and needy!” Let’s be good judges and good “gods!”
Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Tim 6
This chapter teaches us about bad leadership in v.3-10. Some of their characteristics are: they do not speak wholesome words and doctrines (v.3); they are proud and obsessed with arguments (v.4); they have corrupt minds and are destitute of truth (v.5); and often they love money and want to become rich (v.9-10).
Bad leaders exist today also. One held meetings in Japan several times. But I was asked to investigate him, and when I did, I was shocked when I found he was having simultaneous affairs with many women! I told pastors about this, and they stopped welcoming him to Japan. Let’s know bad leaders by their fruit!
