Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 69
This psalm, written by David about 1000 BC, contains at least 5 verses that are Messianic prophecies. V.4a) “Those who hate me…are more than the hairs of my head…” The multitude demanded Jesus be crucified. V.8) “I have become a stranger to my brothers…” Jesus’ brothers didn’t recognize Him as Messiah!
V.9) “…zeal for Your house has eaten me up…” Jesus cleansed the temple with this zeal (Jn 2:17)! V.20) “I looked for someone to take pity, but there was none.” Jesus’ disciples all forsook Him. V.21) “…for my thirst they gave me vinegar…” This happened at the cross!

＊9節「あなたの家を思う熱心が私を食い尽くし…」イエスはこの熱心さをもって神殿を清められた（ヨハネ2:17）。＊20節「私は同情する者を待ち望んだが、だれもおらず…」 弟子たちは皆、イエスを見捨てた。＊21節「私の乾きには酢を飲ませました。」これは十字架の上で起こったことである。
Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Thess 1
In this chapter, we can see how the Spirit-empowered ministry of Paul produced wonderful, abundant fruit in the Thessalonian Church. Paul’s Spirit-empowered ministry is seen in v.5: “…our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance…”
The abundant fruit in the Thessalonian believers is evident in v.3: “…remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ…” Let’s seek God to equip us to do this powerful and fruitful ministry also!

この章では、聖霊の力に満たされたパウロの働きが、テサロニケの教会にいかに素晴らしく豊かな実をもたらしたかを見ることができる。聖霊の力によるパウロのミニストリーは、5節に示されている。「なぜなら、私たちの福音は、言葉だけによらず、力と、聖霊と、強い確信とをもって、あなたがたに伝えられたからです…」
テサロニケの信徒たちにおける豊かな実は、3節に明確である。「…あなたがたの信仰の働き、愛の労苦、私たちの主イエス・キリストに対する望みの忍耐を、絶え間なく覚えているからです…」私たちも、このような力強く実り豊かな働きができるよう、神に求めようではないか。
