Devotion 1 of 2: Josh 7
We find the tragedy of Achan in this chapter. After the great victory over Jericho, Israel suffered a humiliating defeat at Ai, a much smaller and weaker city (v.2-5). God revealed the cause was because Israel had sinned by taking some of the spoils from Jericho, which were to be consecrated to God alone (Josh 6:18-19, 24).
God showed Joshua that Achan, of the tribe of Judah, was the guilty man (v.16-21), so he and his family and possessions were stoned to death and burned (v.24-25). Let’s not love this world or its goods but Jesus only!

この章には、アカンの悲劇が記されている。エリコでの大勝利の後、イスラエルははるかに小さく弱い都市アイで屈辱的な敗北を喫した（2-5節）。神は、イスラエルがエリコから奪った戦利品の一部を、本来神のみに捧げるべきものであったにもかかわらず、持ち去ったことが原因だと明らかにされた（ヨシュア6:18-19、24）。
神はヨシュアに、ユダ族のアカンがその罪人であることを示された（16-21節）。そのため、アカンとその家族、そして財産は石打ちにされ、焼き殺された（24-25節）。この世やその富を愛するのではなく、イエスだけを愛しましょう！
Devotion 2 of 2: Josh 8
This chapter describes how Israel defeated Ai on their 2nd try. God showed them a more complicated strategy than for their 1st battle at Jericho. At Ai, a city of 12,000 (v.25), they formed an army of 30,000 (v.3).
They divided into 2 groups; one attacked, and the other hid in ambush (v.4-5). They also feigned retreat, completely fooling the enemy and totally annihilated them (v.15-22). This tactic was very different from Jericho! Let’s realize each battle we face against AC will be different, so we need to listen to God and follow His strategies!

この章では、イスラエルが二度目の挑戦でアイをいかにして打ち破ったかが描かれている。神は、エリコでの最初の戦いよりも複雑な戦略を彼らに示された。人口1万2千人のアイの町（25節）で、イスラエルは3万人の軍隊を編成した（3節）。
イスラエルは2つのグループに分かれ、一方が攻撃し、もう一方が待ち伏せした（4-5節）。また、退却を装うことで敵を完全に欺き、全滅させた（15-22節）。この戦術はエリコの戦いとは全く異なるものだった。私たちが反キと戦う時、毎回異なる戦いが待ち受けていることを認識し、神の声に耳を傾け、神の戦略に従う必要があることを覚えよう。
