Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 30
V.11 says, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness…” Here, David expresses the truth that God is a God who turns curses into blessings (Deut 23:5)!
This truth manifests in world events, too. The Communist takeover of China looked like a disaster, but it paved the way for history’s greatest revival to explode in China with millions getting saved! The Holocaust was a horrible tragedy for the Jews, but God turned it into a blessing when it motivated the Jews to create their own nation again!

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 14
V.1-13 deal with not applying one teaching to all people and all situations. For example, some people eat meat, but others are vegetarians; and some esteem Saturday or Sunday as special, but others don’t. So, worship should only be on Sat. or Sun. is not God’s commandment.
This truth applies to submitting to governments, which appeared in Rom 13. In some situations, it doesn’t apply. So, we need to be spiritually minded and follow His lead in all teachings! But the teaching of love applies always (v.14-23)!

1～13節では、すべての人や状況に一つの教えを当てはめるべきではないことが述べられています。例えば、肉を食べる人もいれば、菜食主義者もいます。また、土曜日や日曜日を特別な日と考える人もいれば、そうでない人もいます。だから、礼拝は土曜日か日曜日だけにすべきだというのは、神の命令ではありません。
この真理は、ローマ13章で述べられているように、政府に従うことにも当てはまります。状況によっては当てはまらない場合もあります。ですから、私たちはすべての教えにおいて聖霊の導きに従う必要があるのです。しかし、愛の教えは常に当てはまります（14～23節）。
