Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 29
This psalm could be called “The Psalm of the Voice of the Lord” because the phrase, “The voice of the Lord” appears 7 times in just 11 verses! The voice of the Lord seems to be likened to thunder and lightning in nature.
Let’s look at just 1 characteristic of “the voice of the Lord.” V.5 says the Lord’s voice breaks the cedars. This describes what happened at Jericho when God commanded Israel to march around the city for 7 days and shout at the end—the walls of Jericho were broken and fell down (Josh 6)! God’s voice can crush obstacles in our lives, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 13
V.1-7 teach about the need to submit to governing authorities because they are appointed by God. This principle is easy to follow in free, democratic societies, which are based on justice and recognizing human rights. But submitting to authoritarian regimes, where citizens are abused and human rights ignored, is very difficult.
One example was Nazi Germany, ruled by Hitler, who tried to create a Third Reich in Europe by conquering all other European nations. 40-50M died as a result. I believe we should not submit to that kind of government.

1～7節は、統治権力は神によって立てられたものであるからこそ、それに従う必要があると教えています。この原則は、正義と人権尊重を基盤とする自由で民主的な社会では容易に実践できます。しかし、市民が虐待され、人権が無視されるような権威主義体制に従うことは非常に困難です。
その一例が、ヒトラーが率いたナチス・ドイツです。ヒトラーはヨーロッパ諸国を征服することで、ヨーロッパに第三帝国を築こうとしました。その結果、4000万～5000万人が命を落としました。私は、そのような政府には決して従うべきではないと信じます。
