Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 25
This psalm deals with the two greatest problems we face in life—sins from within and enemies from without. David realized this and showed us how to overcome both. For inner sins, he cried out: “Do not remember the sins of my youth…” (v.7), “Pardon my iniquity...” (v.11) and “Forgive all my sins” (v.18)! He asked for forgiveness!
For outside enemies, David prayed in v.19-20, “Consider my enemies, for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred. …let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.” He trusted God and God delivered him!

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 9
In this chapter, Paul answers important questions concerning God’s covenants and promises to Israel. First, he claims that the Word of God is still effective (v.6)! But it is for Isaac, the son of promise, not Ishmael, the son of the flesh (v.7-9). In the past, Isaac = Jew and Ishmael = Arabs, but after the cross, it’s the reverse!
Furthermore, the older Esau (Jews) shall serve the younger Jacob (Gentiles) (v.10-13)! This is confirmed by election, or God’s sovereignty. God has chosen to save Gentiles through faith (v.14-33) during the church age!
