Devotion 1 of 2: Num 23
Num 22-24 reveal that our God is the God who turns curses into blessings! This truth is also seen in Deut 23:5, “The Lord…would not listen to Balaam, but…turned the curse into a blessing…because the Lord…loves you.”
Israel’s enemy, King Balak of Moab, sought to destroy Israel by hiring the prophet Balaam to curse them. But although Balaam tried 4x to prophesy curses, God turned them all into blessings (v.8, 20; 24:9, 17)! As Gal 3:13-14 say, on the cross, Christ became a curse for us to redeem us from the curse and give us blessings instead.

民22～24章は、私たちの神が呪いを祝福に変えてくださる神であることを現しています。この真理は申23:5にも示されています。「･･･主は…バラムに耳を貸そうとはせず、かえって…呪いを祝福に変えられた…主は、あなたを愛しておられるからである。」
イスラエルの敵であるモアブの王バラクは、預言者バラムを雇ってイスラエルを呪わせて、滅ぼそうとしましたが、バラムは4度呪いを預言しようとした時、神はそれらすべてを祝福に変えられたのです（8節、20節、24:9、17）。つまり、ガラ3:13～14にあるように、十字架上でキリストは呪いとなり、私たちを呪いから贖い、代わりに祝福を与えてくださったということです！

Devotion 2 of 2: Num 24
Balaam’s last 2 prophecies are found here. In v.9b, he says, “Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you,” and in v.17, he says, “A Star shall come out of Jacob; a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and batter the brow of Moab, and destroy all the sons of tumult.” Instead of Israel, he actually destroyed Moab!
Balaam’s prophecies are identical to God’s prophecy to Abraham in Gen 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you.” And as the seed of Abraham, we have inherited those prophecies!
