Devotion 1 of 2: Ex 1
Exodus is the story of God delivering Israel out of Egypt to the wilderness. While in Egypt, despite Pharaoh’s persecutions, the Jews grew to 2-3M! “…the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew” (v.12).
This illustrates what a 2nd century church father, Tertullian, said, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church!” When Christians are persecuted, they increase more! This happened when t Rome persecuted Christians, when Communism took over China, and will happen when AC attacks the LDC! Let’s not fear persecution!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ex 2
This chapter describes the birth and 1st 40 years of Moses’ life. He was a type of Jesus (Deut 18:15) as well as the LDC (Rev 11:6). How did Moses symbolize Jesus in this chapter?
1) He escaped being killed by Pharaoh (v.1-10). Jesus escaped being killed by Herod (Matt 2).
2) He was rejected as a leader by his own people (v.11-15). Jesus was rejected as Messiah by the Jews.
3) He married a Gentile woman (v.21). Jesus will marry a Gentile (and Jewish) bride, the church!
