Devotion 1 of 2: Job 23

Job says he doesn’t understand God (v.8) so he wishes he could present his case directly to Him (v.4). But in the midst of his struggles, Job makes a wonderful declaration of faith in v.10b, “When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.” When we cannot understand our situation, let’s make this confession of faith, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 19

In Bible times, the Jews could divorce (v.7). But Jesus taught them that God recognized divorce only when sexual immorality was involved (v.9). In any other case, if the divorced person remarried, he/she would be committing adultery. This shocked the disciples so much that they said if that’s so, it’s better not to marry (v.10)!
It seems that a successful marriage was not so easy during Bible times. The same is even more true today. Let’s pray that Christian marriages will succeed more and more and be a strong witness to a lost world.
