Devotion 1 of 2: Job 6

Job begins to justify himself showing he doesn’t believe he did anything bad to deserve the cruel sufferings he has to endure. V.24 says, “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; cause me to understand wherein I have erred.” This line of thinking will continue throughout this book.
This shows how strong our self-justifying tendency is in human beings. We all are guilty of this feeling. We can judge others so easily, but it’s hard to see our own shortcomings. In the end, Job will finally realize this and repent. As we study Job, let us also repent of our self-justifying! 579x

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 2

This chapter describes the wise men from the East coming to worship Jesus. They were opposite from the shepherds in Bethlehem who also worshiped Jesus in Luke 2. The wise men were Gentiles, well-educated and wealthy; the shepherds were Jews, illiterate and poor. This shows that Jesus came to earth for all mankind.
The wise men gave gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh (v.11). Joseph certainly needed this for their travels and living expenses when they escaped to Egypt (v.13-15)! Praise God that He supplies our needs when we trust Him!
