Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 35
Summary: David is asking God to fight for him against those who are attacking him (v.2). My experience: A long time ago, a member stopped coming to church, so I visited him. He was very angry at me and strongly criticized me for not doing enough for a family with a handicapped child. I apologized for not doing enough, but I explained that I had supported them by buying an expensive electric sewing machine that the father was selling on his job. The member hadn’t known that, and he told me that he couldn’t sleep well, couldn’t concentrate on his work; he had lost appetite and lots of hair! I saw that when we harbor anger against someone, we go through much suffering! As I left, I prayed that my apology would help him to overcome his anger against me and have peace in his heart.

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 36
In v.1-4, David vents his feelings against the wicked! After that, in v.5-10, he turns his eyes to God and worships Him! Then in v.11-12, he pronounces judgment against evildoers! Sometimes it might be good to follow this pattern in our prayers: 1st vent our feelings about bad things in our life and the world. After we let out our negative emotions, we freely worship God and confess His sovereignty. Then in the end, we declare victory over evil and problems in our life!
