Devotion 1 of 2: Hab 2

Habakkuk’s 2nd question to God was: How can God use a wicked nation to punish Judah? God’s answer is found in v.4, “Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith.” In other words, the wicked nation is proud and not upright, but the just must live by faith that the proud will be judged!
The judgment of the proud is found in later verses. For example, v.8 says, “Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the people shall plunder you…” And v.15 warns, “Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor…even to make him drunk…” The reason is given in v.16b, “…utter shame will be your glory.”
So, to overcome the doubts we have about seeming injustice happening around us, let’s strive to live by faith that God is in control and will punish evil and reward the faithful!

Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Tim 2

I believe v.11-13 has special significance to the endtime Christian. Let’s apply these 3 verses to the endtime. V.11 says, “This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him.” We need this strong conviction when AC threatens to kill us if we don’t worship his image! The instant we die, our soul goes to heaven!
V.12 says, “If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.” By enduring AC’s persecution, we will reign with Christ on the earth during the Millennium (Rev 20:4). But if we deny Jesus and worship AC’s image or take his mark, we will be denied the rapture and enter T2, a time of disasters on earth!
V.13 says, If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” I believe “faithless” means being weak under testing. This is what happened to the disciples at the cross. As Jesus forgave them, He will forgive us!
