Devotion 1 of 2: Lam 4

Endtime application: We can apply the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC to the persecution of AC against the church during the tribulation period.
One parallel happening is found in v.13, “…the sins of her prophets and…priests, who shed…the blood of the just.” In Jeremiah’s day, the prophets and priests caused Jews to die by saying Nebuchadnezzar would not invade Judah. The Jews who believed them stayed in Jerusalem and died during Nebuchadnezzar’s invasion.
In the endtime, many sincere pastors and leaders will believe and teach the pretrib rapture. This will cause many believers to not prepare to face AC’s persecution, so when AC appears, they will stumble and compromise by taking the mark of the beast and worshiping his image. In the end, many will die spiritually and leave the faith!

Devotion 2 of 2: James 5

V.7-8 are wonderful endtime verses: “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”
Jesus’ coming will be preceded by the early and latter rain. These rains will produce precious fruit! We need patience and faith to see this fulfillment. The early rain happened in Acts 2. The latter rain began in 1906 at Azusa St. and will continue until the Lord’s coming.
A result of this rain will be a great harvest of fruit—the greatest ingathering of souls from every nation and language that the world has ever seen (Rev 7:9-14). Let’s pray for the latter rain to fall even more!
