Devotion 1 of 2: Song 6

V.8-9 are puzzling verses, “There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, and virgins without number. My dove, my perfect one, is the only one, the only one of her mother, the favorite of the one who bore her. The daughters saw her and called her blessed, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.”
These words are spoken by the Beloved about the Shulamite, whom he loves. I believe the Beloved and Solomon were different, but when I read these verses, is looked like the Beloved and Solomon could be the same individual! It seems like Solomon, who had many wives, is calling the Shulamite, “My dove, my perfect one.”
But, after thinking it over, I will stick to my interpretation that the Beloved and Solomon were different because the Beloved was a shepherd who fed his flock in the gardens (v.2), which I’m certain than Solomon never did!

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Tim 5

V.8 says, “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” We need to understand this Scripture.
There was a gospel singer who married a Christian girl. But I met the girl about a year later, and she told me that at first the man worked, but he lost his job, so he began to live off her income. She told me that she endured it for a while, trying to convince him to find a job, but when he didn’t change, she left him.
Many years later, the same gospel singer suddenly visited Shalom Church! I thought this might be a good chance to help him, but one Sunday, I saw him attend worship with a sister in the congregation. I immediately talked with him and told him he couldn’t date any girl in the church unless he changed and found a steady job!
Right away, he stopped coming to Shalom! Did I protect the flock from a wolf, or did I stumble a brother? Lord, lead me in everything I do.
