Devotion 1 of 2: Eccl 12
V.3 describes growing old: “In the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men bow down; when the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look through the windows grow dim…”
I have witnessed my wife passing through the v.3 aging process like this: Keepers of the house tremble = Her legs tremble and cannot carry her anymore. Strong men bow down = Her back is bent slightly as she walks.
The grinders cease because they are few = Many of her teeth have fallen off. Those that look through the windows grow dim = She cannot see well anymore.
Although her physical house is very thin and weak, I want to treasure her as my life partner until she goes to her heavenly home.

3節は老いについて次のように描写しています。「その日には、家を守る者は震え、力のある男たちは身をかがめ、粉ひき女たちは少なくなって仕事をやめ、窓からながめている女の目は暗くなる。」
私は妻が3節の老化の過程をこのように経験するのを見てきました。家を守る者が震える＝妻の足は震え、もはや体を支えられない。力のある男たちは身をかがめる＝妻は歩くときに少し腰をかがめる。
粉ひき女たちは少なくなって仕事をやめる＝妻の歯の多くが抜け落ちる。窓からながめている女の目は暗くなる＝妻は少しずつ見えなくなっている。
妻の肉体の家はとても細く弱々しいものですが、天の家へ行くまで、私は彼女をライフ・パートナーとして貴んでいきたいと願っています。
Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Cor 12
Yesterday, we read in chapter 11 about the severe sufferings Paul went through for the gospel. I wrote that I think one of the reasons Paul could persevere is found in chapter 12. So, what was that reason?
In v.2-4, Paul describes his NDE (Near Death Experience) which took place 14 years before. He was caught up to the 3rd heaven, to Paradise, and he heard inexpressible words that he could not repeat! He also received visions and revelations, or deep understanding of many spiritual mysteries (v.1).
Many people have had NDEs, gone to heaven and talked with Jesus! They were completely transformed by their amazing experience! They became powerful witnesses of the gospel and the reality of heaven! No doubt Paul’s NDE changed him radically, too, and gave him the strength to overcome hardships for the gospel!

昨日、私たちは11章で、パウロが福音のために経験した激しい苦しみについて読みました。パウロが耐え忍ぶことができた理由の一つは12章にあると私は書きました。では、その理由は何だったのでしょうか。
2-4節で、パウロは14年前に経験した臨死体験（NDE）について述べています。彼は第三の天、パラダイスに引き上げられ、言葉では言い表せない言葉を聞きました。また、幻や啓示、つまり多くの霊的な奥義に対する深い理解も受けました（1節）。
現在、多くの人が臨死体験を経験し、天国に行き、イエス様と語りました。彼らは驚くべき体験によって完全に変えられ、福音と天国の現実の力強い証人となりました。パウロの臨死体験も彼を大きく変え、福音のために苦難を乗り越える力を与えたことは間違いないと私は思います。
