Devotion 1 of 2: Prov 17
V.3 says, “The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the hearts.” This verse shows us the purpose of tests, or trials, in our life. It is to burn out the impurities in us, like the refining pot and furnace burn out the impurities of silver and gold and make them even more pure and valuable.
This is why the Lord allows us to go through tests in or everyday lives, and also why He will allow the church to go through the 1st half of the tribulation and AC’s persecution. He wants to purify and make us more glorious in His image! Let’s not try to avoid tribulation but prepare our hearts to be refined through them!
8/27（水）箴言17章（デボーション1）
3節には、「銀にはるつぼ、金には炉、人の心をためすのは主。」とあります。この節は、人生における試練の目的を示しています。それは、つぼと炉が銀や金の不純物を焼き尽くし、さらに純粋で価値あるものにするように、私たちの中の不純物を焼き尽くすためです。
だからこそ、主は私たちが日々の生活の中で試練を受けることをお許しになり、教会が患難時代の前半と反キの迫害を経験することをお許しになるのです。主は私たちを清め、ご自身のかたちに、より栄光に満ちた者としたいと願っておられるのです。患難を避けようとするのではなく、患難を通して精錬されるよう、心を備えましょう。
Devotion 2 of 2: Luke 17
In v.31-36, Jesus gives warnings about the endtime: not to be like Lot’s wife, and also, 2 will be in bed, or grinding, or in the field, and 1 will be taken and the other left. We need to understand who was taken, and who was left. I believe the one taken was Sodom and Lot’s wife! And the ones who were left was Lot’s family.
The confirmation that this is the right interpretation is found in v.37. The disciples ask Jesus where were they taken? Jesus’ answer is: to the body where eagles gather. In the Greek, the word “eagles” means “vultures.” In Matt 24:28, this same verse in the Greek means “to the carcass where vultures gather. “
So, the ones taken are vultures taken to the carcass! That includes Sodom and Lot’s wife! The ones left are Lot, and followers of Christ! Contrary to the “Left Behind,” movies, let’s not be the “taken” but the “left behind!”

31-37節で、イエスは終末について警告を与えています。ロトの妻のようになってはならない、そして二人は寝台にいたり、臼をひいたり、畑にいたりする中で、ひとりは取られ、他のひとりは残される、と。私たちは誰が取られ、誰が残されたのかを理解する必要があります。取られたのはソドムとロトの妻だったと私は信じています。そして残されたのはロトの家族でした。
この解釈が正しいことを裏付けるのは37節です。弟子たちはイエスに、どこに取られるかを尋ねます。イエスの答えは、「死体のある所、そこに、はげたかも集まります」です。しかし、英訳に「体のある所に、わしが集まります」となっています。そのため、クリスチャンがキリストの体に集まる。つまり、取られるのは携挙の時のクリスチャンという解釈が今まで多かったのです。
しかし、取られたのは、死体に集まったはげたかなのです！そこにはソドムとロトの妻も含まれています！残されたのはロトと、キリストに従う者たちです！ 「レフト・ビハインド」映画とは反対に、私たちは「取られる」のではなく「残される」存在になりましょう！
