Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Chron 21
This chapter is about the reign of King Jehoram, the son of Jehoshaphat. V.20b says, “He reigned in Jerusalem 8 years and, to no one’s sorrow, departed.” What an epitaph for a king! He had all the opportunities to do good for the millions of people under his rule but failed terribly, so that when he died, no one was sad!
We are all called as kings and priests (1 Pet 2:9)! Let’s live so that people will miss us when we die!

2歴21章：自由な分かち合い！
この章は、ヨシャパテの息子ヨラム王の治世について書かれています。20節後半には、「彼は人々に愛されることなく世を去った」とあります。なんと悲しい王の墓碑銘でしょう。彼は、支配下にある何百万もの民のために善を行う機会を惜しみなく与えられていましたが、見事に失敗し、亡くなったとき、誰も悲しむことはありませんでした。
私たちは皆、王であり祭司であると召されています（1ペトロ2:9）。私たちが死ぬとき、人々が惜しむような生き方をしましょう。

Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Chron 22
This chapter covers the reign of King Ahaziah of Judah, son of Jehoram (v.1). One serious mistake he made was to join with King Jehoram of Israel to fight against Jehu (v.7), thus repeating his grandfather, Jehoshaphat’s mistake (2 Chron 18). God was using Jehu wipe out all the family of Israel’s wickedest king, Ahab, and King Jehoram was Ahab’s son (v.6). So, Jehu defeated Jehoram (v.8), and found and killed Ahaziah, too (v.9).
Lesson 1: We must learn from history and not repeat the same mistakes. Lesson 2: Don’t make friends with evil people! They will lead to our downfall!

2歴22章：自由な分かち合い！
この章は、ヨラムの息子であるユダの王アハズヤの治世について述べています（1節）。彼が犯した一つの重大な過ちは、イスラエルの悪い王ヨラムと結託してエフーと戦ったことです（7節）（二人の王は同じ名前ヨラムを持っていた！）。これは祖父ヨシャパテの過ち（2歴18章）を繰り返したのです。神はエフーを用いて、イスラエルで最も邪悪な王アハブの一族を滅ぼそうとされました。ヨラム王はアハブの息子だったので（6節）、エフーは彼と（8節）アハズヤも殺しました（9節）。
教訓1：私たちは歴史から学び、同じ過ちを繰り返してはなりません。教訓2：邪悪な人と親しくなってはいけません！彼らは私たちの破滅につながります！
