Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Kings 17
This chapter describes the reign of the last king of northern Israel, King Hoshea (v.1). His failures and the many sins of Israel over the 200+ years of their kingdom are written in detail. To be honest, it is very depressing reading, as failure after failure, and sin upon sin are described with no victory or glory appearing!
How many Christians will really believe and enter the Promised Land of revival for Japan in the endtime? In Num 13-14, when Israel had the chance to enter Canaan, only Joshua and Caleb dared to believe God’s promise of victory and revival! 2-3M Jews refused to believe and couldn’t enter!
Out of 70 of Jesus’ disciples, 12 were chosen to walk with Him daily, and out of those, only 3 were chosen to climb the Mt. of Transfiguration to see a vision of the LDR. Let’s be one of the few who enter the narrow gate!
Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Kings 18
In this chapter, Hezekiah begins to reign in Judah. He was one of the greatest of Judah’s kings. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord like David had done (v.3). He removed idols, altars and sacred pillars and even destroyed Moses’ bronze serpent because the people had begun to worship it (v.4)!
The Lord was with Hezekiah; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him (v.7)! We don’t want to obey AC, so Hezekiah can be an inspiration to us of how to stand against a strong ruler who is trying to conquer you!
The king of Assyria sent a great army against Jerusalem in v.17. They wanted to destroy Judah, just like they destroyed northern Israel and took them captive (17:5-6). How could Judah stand against this powerful army? (Will continue tomorrow!)
