Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Kings 5

This chapter contains the famous story of Syria’s general Naaman being healed from leprosy (v.1-19). We can learn many lessons from Naaman, but let’s focus on Elisha’s servant Gehazi. After Namaan was healed by Elisha, he wanted to give Elisha a reward, but Elisha refused twice to receive it (v.15-16).
When Gehazi saw that, he decided to secretly ask Namaan for a gift. He lied that Elisha wanted it, so Namaan gave him silver and clothes (v.20-23). But when he returned, Elisha revealed he knew everything Gehazi had done, then spoke words of judgment, saying Namaan’s leprosy would cling to Gehazi and his descendants (v.24-27).
Gehazi had the opportunity to be Israel’s next great prophet, but he traded that honor for money. In the endtime, let’s not waste our privilege to be part of the greatest revival in history by choosing money or this world instead!

Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Kings 6

The miraculous works of Elisha are abundant! He had double the number of miracles that Elijah had! Let’s focus on just one of his works in v.8-13. The king of Syria was making war against Israel and going after Israel’s king (v.8). But every time the king of Syria got close, the king of Israel would move to another location (v.9-10).
It happened so often that the king of Syria thought there was an informant in their midst (v.11)! But his servant informed the king that that problem was not an informant, but that Israel had a prophet, Elisha, who knew the king’s every move (v.12)! That’s why Syria could not capture the king of Israel.
Endtime application: The LDC, too, will have an enemy hunting for us! AC will be looking for those who don’t worship his image or take his mark! But, like Elisha, God will inform the LDC of where AC’s forces are so we can escape from them! PTL!
