Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Kings 7

Solomon took 13 years to build his own house in v.1-12a. Then, in v.12b-51, we see a further description of the construction of Solomon’s Temple! It was truly a magnificent building, covered in gold. Based on the record in 1 Chron 29:3-8, scholars estimate anywhere from $30M to $300B worth of gold and silver was used to build it!
Sadly, the Temple was destroyed by Babylon in 586 BC, but the prophet Haggai gave a powerful prophecy in Hag 2:9: “‘The glory of the latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts!” Wow! What does this mean? I believe it has a couple of meanings.
1st, Solomon’s Temple was a great OT temple, but in the NT, Jesus is building a more glorious temple, the church!
2nd, the early church was a glorious temple, but the LDC will be a temple even greater in glory!

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Kings 8

When the construction of the Temple was completed, the priests moved the Ark of the Covenant from David’s Tabernacle in the city of Zion and the other furniture in Moses’ Tabernacle from Gibeon into the new Temple in Jerusalem (v.4-6).
The result was that the cloud of God’s presence filled the Temple, and the priests could not minister anymore (v.10-11)! This is a picture of how God will fill the LDC with His glorious presence when the church experiences the 3rd major step of restoration!
Let’s seek the Lord to prepare us to make this step! It will cause us to be what the church was meant to be! That is the church that will impact the whole world with the greatest revival in history! Let’s believe and seek it!
