Devotion 1 of 2: Jer 47
This chapter contains Jeremiah’s prophecy describing war, in which the Philistines are defeated by Egypt (v.1). The curse of war is continuing to this present day in Gaza, which was part of the Philistines’ territory (v.5).
My own personal view of Israel’s current Gaza War is that Hamas’ October 7 attack was brutal and unconscionable, but Israel’s bombings have gone overboard and has changed world opinion from sympathizing with them to opposing them.
In a sense, Israel is doing in Gaza what Russia is doing in Ukraine. Both countries are aggressively destroying their targets, mercilessly killing thousands of innocent civilians. I support Israel, but I worry their actions may bring them judgment in the future.
Zech 13:8 says 2/3 of Jews will die in the Battle of Armageddon. Israel’s population is 9M, so that means 6M! I believe if Israel refrains from excessive violence today, it may lessen the number of Jews killed in the future by tens of thousands! Wouldn’t that be worth restraining their bombings?

この章には、ペリシテ人がエジプトに敗北するという戦争を描いたエレミヤの預言が記されています（1節）。ペリシテ人の領土であったガザでは（5節）、戦争の呪いが今も続いています。
イスラエルの現在のガザ戦争について、私個人の見解は、ハマスによる10月7日の攻撃は残忍で非道なものでしたが、イスラエルの爆撃は度を越しており、世界の世論はイスラエルへの同情から反対へと変わりました。
ある意味で、イスラエルはガザでロシアと同じことをしていると言えるでしょう。両国は攻撃的に標的を破壊し、何千人もの罪のない民間人を容赦なく殺害しています。私はイスラエルを支持しますが、彼らの行動は将来に裁きをもたらすと信じます。
ゼカ13:8には、ハルマゲドンの戦いでユダヤ人の3分の2が死ぬと記されています。イスラエルの人口は900万人なので、600万人ということになります。イスラエルが今日、過度の暴力行為を控えれば、殺害されるユダヤ人の数を何万人も減らすことができるかもしれないと私は信じます。それならば、爆撃を抑制する価値があるのではないでしょうか？
Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Pet 3
V.13-17 talk about suffering for doing good, and if we suffer for righteousness’ sake, we are blessed, and we should not be afraid or troubled by threats against us (v.14)! All these Scriptures will certainly apply during the tribulation, when AC will persecute the church and threaten us with death if we don’t worship him (Rev 13:15).
Then v.15 tells us to always be ready to give a defense for the hope in us with a good conscience, so those who revile our good conduct may be ashamed (v.16).
This agrees with Jesus, who told us that in the LD, when we are brought before rulers to testify, He would give us wisdom so our enemies wouldn’t be able to contradict us (Luke 21:12-15)!
Let’s not be afraid of threats but instead always be ready to testify of Jesus’ salvation!

13-17節は、善行のために苦しむことについて語っています。もし義のために苦しむなら、私たちは幸いであり、脅かしを恐れたり、動揺したりすべきではありません（14節）。これらの聖句はすべて、患難時代に確かに当てはまります。その時、反キは教会を迫害し、崇拝しなければ、私たちを殺すと脅迫します（黙13:15）。
そして15節は、私たちのうちにある希望について、いつでも正しい良心をもって弁明できる用意をしていなさい、と教えています。そうすれば、私たちの正しい生き方をののしる人たちは恥じ入るでしょう（16節）。
これは、イエスが終末に、私たちが指導者たちの前に連れ出されて証言する時、敵が反論できないように、イエスが知恵を与えてくださると語られたことと一致します（ルカ21:12-15）。
脅迫を恐れるのではなく、常にイエスの救いを証しできるよう備えておきましょう！
